A Game for Kids to Play Together

Thomas the Train Craft that Siblings Can Play Together

Poor Little Buddy. He's done crafts about butterflies, caterpillars, ponies, etc, and he does enjoy them but they aren't very manly. I am always trying to think of an easy craft that a two year old boy will enjoy.nnThomas the Train is very popular in our house and we have dozens of books but I haven't been able to think of a craft for him....until now!

I put out some long butcher paper on our wood floor in the kitchen. Then I drew a "racetrack". Munchkin Girl sat on one end and Little Buddy sat on the other. Once I showed them what to do, they spent almost all day (on and off of course) pushing Thomas back and forth and back and forth...to each other. If I'm being honest, being two years apart is rough. They do spend a lot of the day fighting and screeching over toys so I was thrilled to find something they could actually play together, without fighting.

Then later, we turned it into a picture game:

Kids can make this indoor racetrack and even turn it into an indoor city for hours of fun

My babysitter is very creative and a few days after we drew the original track, I came home to find this...an entire city! Trees, a school, a swingset, a church, all kinds of things! She said the kids sat with her for over an hour and watched her draw the city onto the street. We finally had to pull the paper up because it started ripping, but this turned out to be one of the most fun games we've played and home and not only was it an easy craft, it was a cheap craft...All we needed was butcher paper and and masking tape!

That is awesome. Hm....much less mess than a wood track. And...yeay for your babysitter. She did a good job.

Any game or activity which keeps little ones from fighting is tops for me :). Your babysitter must be an angel.

Great project! My little guy is a train fanatic and butcher paper is a much more economical way to go in comparison to the train tracks for sale out there.Thanks for the share!

Neat idea!! I used to Nanny a little boy who loved Thomas. I used to go to the UK official website of Thomas and Friends to get craft ideas. We used to take boxes and make them into "Thomas" with paint, crayons, print outs. Maybe your little guy will like that.

Synergistic Use the following with caution: Single Oils: Angelica, cedarwood, chamomile (German/blue), cistus, citronella, clary sage, clove bud, cumin (Black), cypress, davana, fennel, bay laurel, marjoram, mountain savory, myrrh, nutmeg, peppermint, rose, spearmint, vetiver, yarrow.
4. Read and follow instructions carefully.
5. Always take precautions with using Aromatherapy.
6. Unless otherwise stated, never use essential oils on your skin without diluting the essential oil with a carrier oil. A skin test is recommended prior to use. If you experience any soreness, redness or irritation do not use the blend.
7. If an essential oil or essential oil blend gets into your eye, flush the eye immediately with a carrier oil or cold milk. Seek medical attention if the stinging and/or irritation continues.
8. Do not use more than 2 drops of the following essential oils when used in a bath the first time: Aniseed, Black pepper, Camphor (rectified), Citronella, Clove, Eucalyptus globulus, Ginger, Juniperberry, Peppermint, Sage, Spearmint, Thyme.
9. If allergic to certain foods, do not use essential oils or carrier oils that come from those foods.
10. The following essential oils should be avoided if you have epilepsy: Cajeput, Camphor, Eucalyptus, Fennel, Peppermint, Rosemary
